What the EU requires — and enforces

The EU maximum residue level for ethylene oxide in spices is 0.1 mg/kg — the sum of ethylene oxide and 2-chloroethanol expressed as ethylene oxide — under Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, in force since 30 June 2015. Cumin from India has faced intensified border controls since 2023, with check frequency raised to 30% in January 2025. We treat these numbers as the working brief: every EU-bound lot is tested to these limits before dispatch.

Independent NABL-accredited laboratories operating under ISO/IEC 17025. We name the laboratory and its accreditation number on every COA. The accreditation belongs to the laboratory — we coordinate the testing; we don't grade our own homework.
